Certech has acquired a micro gas chromatograph (µ-GC) for the analysis of gases and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC). This equipment complements the existing instrumentation portfolio and can be coupled with a quadrupole mass spectrometer.

The equipment includes four μ-GC modules. Each of the modules comprises a micro-injector, a chromatographic column and a non-destructive thermal conductivity micro-detector (μ-TCD). The analyser allows the quantification of the constituents of a complex mixture in a concentration range from ppm to %.
A specific column for the analysis of O2, N2, Ar, CO, CH4 and H2 gases is included, two columns for the analysis of light and heavier volatile organic compounds, as well a column dedicated to the analysis of NH3 and nitrogen compounds.
The gaseous sample is analysed simultaneously on the four columns in less than 3 minutes.
Typical applications are: biogas analysis, gas impurity search, on-line monitoring of references compounds, reaction kinetics as well as on-line monitoring of reagents and reactions products in the gas phase after coupling to a catalytic reactor, the breakthrough curve of sorbents used for gas purification … .
