Certech took part in a development project led by VALEO Power to increase the recycled content in automotive parts used in cabin air conditioning systems.
Promoting the use of recycled materials for automotive applications
With a direct impact on the air inside the vehicle, these parts must meet the requirements of automotive manufacturers in terms of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) concentration and odor. The specifications that the various components must meet can therefore be an obstacle to the use of recycled materials.
Certech supported Valeo Power throughout this project in order to evaluate various treatment processes designed to reduce odor. Through its expertise in both odor assessment by an expert panel and the identification of odorous volatiles by GC-TOFMS/Sniffing, our team enabled Valeo to select a decontamination process that meets manufacturer specifications for parts containing up to 80% recycled material.
