Certech was created in 1996 by the Catholic University of Louvain (UCLouvain), with the financial support of the European Union and the Walloon Region. It is located at Seneffe, in the south west of Belgium.
UCLouvain transferred on its site in Seneffe the expertise of three laboratories, which had a tradition of innovation and industrial collaborations in chemistry. These laboratories were the chemistry and physics of polymers unit, the process engineering unit, and the catalysis and chemistry of divided materials unit.
In 1999, the Centre has been unified and became independent legal entity (non profit organisation). Its Board includes acamedic founders as well as professionals from both the civil society and the industry.
Certech employs 40 high-level scientists and combines a top class analytical expertise with a deep understanding of the domain of activity of its industrial customers.
